Dear Patrons and Friends of TryLight Theatre Company,

After the heartbreaking cancellation of TryLight Theatre Co.’s 2020 season, we are looking optimistically toward planning an exciting pandemic-friendly season for 2021-22. We are watching Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen and hope to follow closely in the footsteps of other Canadian theatre companies that are opening this summer and fall.

TryLight’s plans for reopening are a work in progress. The safety of our audience members, cast, crew, and volunteers is always our first priority, and that responsibility informs every aspect of our planning. We will ensure that our theatre venue will continue to meet the directives of public-health authorities. Our challenge is to mount a season that conforms to pandemic-era realities, while still offering an enjoyable community theatre experience. We are developing health and safety protocols that we believe will meet or exceed public health recommendations. You can do your part in paving the path to reopening by ensuring you are fully vaccinated.

With every challenge comes opportunity. The pandemic has forced us to re-examine the art of theatre, to explore options, and to consider technologies and alternatives that initiate, maintain and strengthen the bond between artists and audiences. These challenges spark innovation, adventure, and new creative energy. And remember, with our new tiered seating comes the opportunity to enjoy a production where “every seat is a good seat.”

The postponement of our 2020 season will always leave an ache in our hearts. But as we look ahead to welcoming you back, and to the new possibilities this brings, we feel a sense of celebration in this, our 30th year, of presenting quality community theatre.

It’s been a rather long intermission. We thank you for standing by us and look forward to unveiling our plans for 2021 in the coming weeks.
